Krang
OriginTradition, and runes in the language of Old Gods, record that Krang came from a strange planet to Loth long ago, when dark magical powers had battled for possession of the universe [RHB Tomb]. When Loth was young, Krang was battled by the First Things [RHB City]. Ultimately, Krang had won [RHB Tomb]. Later the planet was ruled by evil powers who were followers of Krang. These were great yellow giants of small intelligence, but of prodigious strength. They built the tower and the city of the ancient and most powerful Lord Krang. [RHB Tomb] PowersKrang planned and ruled and malefically twisted the futures of worlds. [RHB Tomb] Krang was not so great as the furred god Zotog-Ua. Once, when Zotog-Ua visited a planet where Krang was living, Krang crawled beneath a mountain and hid for a year or two, until Zotog-Ua departed. Many ages later, the sorcerer Khalda ceased worshiping Krang when he learned of this incident. [RHB Deplorable] AppearanceKrang was a the monstrous brown leathern thing, of horrifying aspect [RHB Tomb]. He had broad leather wings and could fly [RHB City]. Palace and TempleKrang had a tremendous palace that was coveted by all the evil powers in the universe. He also had a "gleaming tower," which was presumably part of the palace. And Krang had a temple, but it is unclear whether that was part of the palace, adjoined the palace, or was simply another name for the palace. [RHB Fidelity] Hsothian ManuscriptsA slave of Lord Krang is said to have copied text from the Hsothian manuscripts to certain parchments. These parchments were later consulted by the magician Volnar. [RHB Fall] DeathEventually Krang fell into the likeness of death, though his body did not rot, and his appearance did not change. The inhabitants of Loth interred him in an enormous tomb carved from the side of a mountain, and sealed him in. It was said that Krang's tomb contained rare treasures including jewels from far worlds of the dawn of time, and the manuscripts of the Hsothian chants. [RHB Tomb] Krang's tomb was buried between the river Oolaee and Mt. Zath, in an area that was verdant gardens [RHB City]. After aeons, the area turned to desert, and the sands covered the mouth of the tomb, so its location was lost [RHB Tomb]. According to another account, Krang's tomb was in a desert from the start. [RHB Fidelity] Shortly after Krang's apparent demise, his High Priest Ghu declared that he was possessed by Krang, and that the ancient deity Shista should rule in Krang's place. [RHB Fidelity] DepartureHumans from Phoor discovered Krang's tomb and opened it. While they were distracted by the horde of wealth, Krang awakened and feasted on them. [RHB Tomb] Once, men opened Krang's sepulcher, and dire things happened. Some say that he died again and his living corpse is still in his tomb. Others say that he flew away to join his cousins Khut-Lu (Cthulhu), Zatog-Ua (Tsathoggua), and Iog-Zodot (Yog-Sothoth), circling between the star-spaces. [RHB City] Those who served Krang remained, and some of them retired to Mt. Zath. Sometime later, the city of Phargo appeared in the desert, founded by Old Ones who may have been old enemies of Krang. [RHB City] A mighty civilization flourished in Yondath in the old years after Lord Krang was sealed in his mausoleum. [RHB Cavern] EpithetsLord Krang [RHB City; Tomb]. The Great One [RHB City].
